Description
AICAR (5-Aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide) is a cell-permeable nucleoside analog that is phosphorylated intracellularly to AICA ribonucleotide (ZMP), a potent activator of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). Research has used AICAR extensively to study AMPK signaling in the context of cellular energy sensing and metabolic adaptation.
